NASA Telerobotics Workbench
UX / UI
This was a 6-month project working with The Intelligent Robotics Group (IRG) at NASA, during which I developed the user flows, icons, UI elements and prototypes for the K10 Telerobotics Workbench used in the field testing of the K10 Rover.
This project began as a collaboration with the Academy of Art to develop a UI for their Tele-robotics Workbench. For myself and 2 other students this became a summer internship at Aames Research Center working to complete and refine the Tele-robotics Workbench.
The Intelligent Robotics Group conducts applied research in computer vision, human-robot interaction and robot software. The Telerobotics Workbench is the dashboard for NASA's K10 Rover.
This UI was developed to test the transfer of telerobotic operations from team/ground-based operation to Single User/ISS based operation. The Workbench interface needed to formalize this transition for certain specified tasks.
The dashboard allows flight engineers to direct the and monitor the autonomous rover, on the ground at Aames Research Center, from the ISS, to tackle specific challenges .
The UI developed was implemented during a Space Station-to-Ground Field test of the K10 rover.
